Beijing Police Plan to Nab Crooks Using Ultrapower’s Big Data, AI Services

(YicaiGlobal) Feb. 28 — A Beijing-based company is set to expand the scope of its artificial intelligence products and Big Data services to include use by the local police force in criminal investigations, the firm said yesterday.

Beijing Ultrapower Software Co.’s [SHE:300002] smart system for public security will be used by Beijing police in criminal investigations for two years, after the company signed a cooperation agreement with the local Public Security Bureau. The computing firm will add machine learning, data mining and artificial intelligence to its existing semantic analysis system.

The partnership reflects the police force’s acknowledgement of the smart system, which could help it crack cases and cut labor costs, the statement said.

Beijing police will partner with Ultrapower in specific projects for software, hardware, service and special arrangements.
